CAVE&STAR is an experiential activity that takes place after the underground site closes for the day.
The excursion is organized in sensorial mode by specialized personnel and allows you to travel through a stretch of cave located in the “large caves” area, alternating teaching and dissemination with synesthetic and emotional experiences.
The cave experience will stimulate the understanding of the sensations of the first explorers, of their fears and the emotions generated by the unknown: the concept of “time” will be revealed, highlighting the link between geological time and astronomical time, between inner exploration and experiential activity that takes place after infinite space, allowing an effective introduction to the second laboratory experience, the physical/astronomical one.
After approximately 1 hour of experiential visit, in fact, the participants are accompanied to the Franco Anelli Museum, where another “journey” will begin, this time towards the immensities of the cosmos and the wonders of the starry sky.
After a brief introduction on the aims and objectives of scientific research by the expert amateur astronomers of the Sirius Astronomical Observatory, the starry sky is illustrated, with the various constellations, asterisms and astronomical objects visible at our latitudes.
Participants learn to recognize the brightest stars and orient themselves by finding the cardinal points only by observing with the naked eye. Subsequently, the laboratory involves direct viewing through the telescope of the celestial objects visible during the evening.
It is specified that if, for meteorological reasons, astronomical observation outside is not possible, a reception room will be set up inside the Museum, where some astronomical themed laboratories are activated, with viewing of 3D films and a planetarium in 2D, called Stellarium.
Total duration: 2 hours.
